Dubai is one of the cities of the United Arab Emirates and is located on the shores of the Persian Gulf. This city shares borders with Abu Dhabi from the south, with Sharjah from the north and with Oman from the south east. Dubai has no rivers or villages, but it does have a saltwater creek called “Dubai Creek” which has enough depth for large ships to pass through. Three bridges crossing over the creek and the Al ShindaghaTunnel from under it connect both sides of the land to one another. The Deira section of the city is surrounded by the Emir populated city of Sharjah from the west and the Al Awir Town from the south, and Dubai’s International Airport is located on its south side. The famous Palm Deira (Deira Islands) is in the Persian Gulf on the North side of Deira. The Port Rashid, Jebel Ali, Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah and business districts such as Business Bay are located on the west side of the Creek which is inland Dubai. The Sheik Zayed Road with its luxurious skyscrapers is situated in this area.
The historical Bur Dubai District is in the newly developed region of Dubai and is quickly expanding & growing as a result of the authorities planning to turn it into a modern city. Dubai is the second most expensive city of the region and the twentieth in the world.
