South Africa is a country located on the southernmost tip of the African continent. It is 1.2 Million Squares per kilometer wide and the twenty-fourth largest country in the world with a population of 57.7 million. South Africa is neighbors with Namibia, Botswana & Zimbabwe from the North, and with Mozambique & Swaziland from the North East. The small enclaved country of Lesotho however is located on its eastern side. With about 2700 kilometers of coastline, this country shares water borders with the Atlantic & India Oceans. Cape Town is its capital and its other large cities are Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
South Africa has 11 official languages with Zulu as the most spoken. About %73 of the population are Protestant Christian and the South African Government is Parliamentary Republic. The official currency is South African the Rand .
South Africa is the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, one of the most legendary freedom fighters in the world. Not only his legacy, but also the country’s rich wildlife, its coastline along the ocean, its Natural reserves and its populous & luxurious cities attract many tourists every year. Also its stable economy, suitable infrastructure for tourism and its cultural & natural resources all have made South Africa one of the most mesmerizing tourist destinations in the world.
Cape Town as the capital brings a lot of tourists for its Luxurious shopping centers, beautiful beaches and historical attractions. The Castle of Good Hope with a star shaped structure built in the 17th century is one the most significant attractions of Cape Town. The Victoria or Alfred Beach are among the most popular to visit. The Boulders Beach as the Penguin Colony for African penguins makes for one unparalleled sightseeing choice in South Africa. On your trip to Cape Town, don’t forget to visit the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, the Two Oceans Aquarium, Africa’s Museum of Contemporary Arts and the Crocodile Farm.
Johannesburg with its painful history, political events, its previous Apartheid Regime and the appearance of prominent characters such as Nelson Mandela is another important destination on your trip to South Africa. The Apartheid Museum, The Nelson Mandela Center, The Constitution Hill and the bohemian suburb of Melville are some of the places to visit in Johannesburg.
With the growth of the Tourism Industry in South Africa and the authorities’ efforts in related sectors, the number of tourist attractions in the country are on the rise which in turn invites tourists to add South Africa to their list of countries to visit. A few more examples of South Africa’s attractions include The Kruger National Park, Bokop, Cape Wheel, Discreet Six Museum, Gold Reef City Amusement Park, Cape of Good Hope and Pilanesberg National Park.
South Africa (4N Cape Town –2N Sun City –1N Pilanesberg –2N Johannesburg)
Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town
Upon arrival at Cape Town at the International Airport, you will meet your local English guide who will escort you to your awaiting vehicle and transfer you to your hotel. After having lunch at the hotel’s restaurant, time is at your leisure to rest. After that, if the weather permits, we will go to the famous Table Mountain to enjoy the view from it cable car ride, and perhaps an orientation walk to learn more about the city. In the evening, you will have dinner at the Belthazar restaurant in the V&A Waterfront.
Day 2: Township Excursion
After breakfast, you will have a guided tour of the Townships, the community center and their local arts & crafts made by the local communities. You will enjoy a traditional Township lunch at the Lelapa Restaurant.
• Optional Robben Island Tour at 1pm ($40): A boat trip to and from the Island, a guided
tour on the island and of Nelson Mandela’s incarceration
Day 3: Full Day at Stellenbosch
After breakfast, you will visit Stellenbosch, with an orientation tour and some time at leisure to stroll the quaint streets of this town. After that, there will be a guided Tour of the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Gardens in Stellenbosch. Then you shall have a Picnic Lunch at the Grande Provence Resort. Here, together with the estates wines and a local gourmet picnic you can also explore the Grande Provence Gallery which showcases the works of some of the finest, carefully selected, established and emerging artists from SA, Europe and America. Following lunch the group can enjoy time in Franschhoek to stroll down the main road viewing shops, galleries or enjoying freshly brewed coffee. You will return to the hotel in late afternoon. In the evening, you will have a sunset dinner transfer enjoyed around the coastline to Camps Bay where the group will dine at a selected restaurant with a fantastic sea view! You will return to the hotel at night.
Day 4: Full Day in Cape Peninsula
After breakfast, there will be a drive via Chapman’s Peak (permitted the road is open) to Cape Point. There you will visit Cape of Good Hope and Funicular. Then you will have Seafood Lunch at the Harbour House Restaurant at the Seaside town of Kalk Bay. After that you will view the Boulders Penguin Colony. If time permits, then we will stroll the streets of Kalk Bay with its antiques & unique shops. After that you will return to the hotel to rest and freshen up before dinner. In the evening you will have a Farewell dinner feast at the African inspired Gold Restaurant.
Day 5: Journey towards Sun City via Johannesburg
After breakfast, you will be checked out of the hotel and transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Johannesburg. After arriving in Tambo International Airport, you will be transferred to Sun City which will take about 2.5 hours. You can either have a Gourmet lunch during your transfer on the coach bus, or wait to have lunch at your hotel. After arriving in Sun City, the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore Sun City Resort on your own.
Day 6: At Leisure in Sun City
After breakfast, the entire day is at leisure to enjoy and explore Sun City on your own. In the evening you will have dinner at a selected restaurant.
Day 7: Journey towards Pilanesberg National Reserve
After breakfast, there will be a 20-minute transfer to your lodge in Pilanesburg where you will have a welcome briefing & orientation of the lodge. You shall have lunch at the lodge’s restaurant. In the afternoon, there will be a game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park in open 4x4 game drive vehicles, which will take approximately 3 hours. In the evening you will have dinner at the lodge’s restaurant.
• Optional Balloon Safari over the Pilanesberg ($350): Enjoy elevated views of the landscape of Pilanesberg National Park from a different height
Day 8: Journey towards Johannesburg
Early in the morning you will have wake up call, followed by breakfast treats prior to your 3-hour Game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park. Then you will return to the lodge for breakfast and after that, a 2.5 hours journey towards Johannesburg. You will have a brief excursion along the way in the Sterkfontein Caves & Maropeng Museum. You will have lunch at a local restaurant. Then you will continue your journey towards your hotel in Johannesburg. In the evening you will have dinner at the Maximillian hotel restaurant.
Day 9: Full Day at Pretoria
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Pretoria for a City Tour that includes a visit to the Voortrekker Monument & Museum, Church Square, The Town Hall, Union Buildings & Freedom Park. Then you will have lunch at a local restaurant. You will travel back to your hotel in the afternoon to rest and freshen up before dinner. In the evening you will have dinner at the Pigalle Restaurant.
Day 10: Leaving South Africa
After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and have a brief tour in the township of Soweto which includes the Apartheid Museum and a visit to Regina Mundi Catholic Church (if time permits). Then you will have a Traditional Township Lunch. After that you will be transferred to the Tambo International Airport to return home.
